Default Before You Hire Anyone

Before you hire anyone to do anything call Seniors vs Crime and ask what kind of history that company has as far as complaints, etc. Unless it is one of the larger well established businesses make sure you get the owner's name. Seniors vs Crime keeps a database on those individuals who keep changing the name of their company to try and avoid background checks.

You can reach Seniors vs Crime at:

Brownwood: 352-750-1914

Sumter: 352-689-4601 Ext 4606

Those are the two primary offices for The Villages. There are many others located throughout Florida. They all have limited hours so leave a message and your call will be returned.

I stand corrected, they will do it now. Hooray! Sorry my information was incorrect.

I'm a little confused, Matt and Gail. What is it you don't believe is true and/or is against their policy? If you could please clarify, it would be helpful for us who might have to use them in the future.

Very good idea. They've helped us in the past and encourage residents to give them a call. It's easier to prevent someone from dealing with a crook than fix it after they've been taken for a ride. This is an excellent group of volunteers who do a great job of helping the public. It's good to have someone on your side.

Give Seniors vs Crime a call and ask them. You will find they are very willing to help and will provide you with information they have on file about any vendor. A good test would be to ask them about a background on Tire Choice at Colony or Theresa Banks who does landscaping work under several different company names.

Just as a heads-up for everyone, Seniors Vs Crime has 4 (well - 3 1/2 because Fruitland Park isn't quite built yet but their SVC office is open) offices in The Villages. We have the two already mentioned, one at the Marion County sheriff's Office on Mulberry Lane in The Villages (352-753-7775) and one in Pennbrooke Fairways on SR 44 in the Lake County Sheriffs Office Substation. That office will serve the new Villages of Fruitland Park and is open NOW (352-323-8273). There are about 50 Seniors Vs Crime offices around the state.
