Has anyone installed a device that give you instant hot water vs letting the facet run for 30 plus seconds before the water begins to turn warm. It seems to take forever to get hot water from the water heater in the garage to the kitchen sink.
I beleive my husband asked abuot this years ago but the response was negative. Just wondering if folks have this and is it worth having it installed and if there are any drawbacks to it. I would assume there's a savings in water usage.

I've helped install two of these units for neighbors. Both are glad they have them. They are set on a timer so they don't run all the time, at night or during the day when the demand for hot water is at a minimum.

I have had one installed in every house I have had since 1985. I LOVE mine...great for tea, cup of soup, instant coffee, puddings, jello, etc. I use it every day.You won't be sorry that you got it.

I have had a unit installed by my solar guys from Ocala. Unit is installed on top of the water heater and there is a device under the bathroom sink. Works great.

We had Mike's Plumbing install one over a year ago for $288 complete. Before we got it, we were waiting about 45 seconds to a minute to get hot water (depends on the size of your house and distance from water heater). The faucet in the master bath that has the device gets almost instant hot water. Shower gets hot in about 5-10 seconds. Spare bath and kitchen is still a wait but about half of what it was before. We run the device for about 4 hours in the morning and about 4 hours in the evening.
In our last house, we had one on every faucet. Really saved water. I don't know why this isn't standard for new construction in Florida.

Not instant, but I got rid of the restrictors in my faucets or changed the screen to increase the flow of water. This made more water flow which decreased the time for the hot water to get to the faucet. It used to take forever to put 8 cups into a coffee pot before, now its much faster. I did the same thing in my shower head. What's the point of limiting the flow to save water, then take twice as long to rinse the soap off?
