Default Phantom Door Screens

Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with Phantom Door Screens sold at Lowes? They are not a do it yourself type, their price rice includes installation from the manufacturer. I'm looking for info. on how folks like them, and if they have had any mechanical issues with them. We have a full size leaded glass door and don't want to install a traditional screen door that would detract from the overall door appearance.

Yes we had the Phantom Screen Door... that was purchased at Lowes. We had it in place for about 3 yrs. To be perfectly honest, we did not like it. Even tho the magnet that held the door closed was quite strong, there were times when our little dog would run into the door since one could not easily tell there was a screen door there and as a result the door would release from the magnet and would QUICKLY rewind on its own with quite a snap. So we then kept the door locked which helped the unexpected opening but that ended up presenting another problem. Every time we received company we would have to unlock both the top & bottom locks & WE would have to operate the door rather than the outside person as releasing from the magnet & holding the door so it could slowly rewind rather than the quick snap. I hope I've explained my opinion well enough for you to understand our dislike of the unit. We eventually had the door removed.

Default Hide Away Door

We got a hide away screen from Michele's Hide Away Doors, 352-236-8869 and we are very happy. This is our second home in The Villages and our second door. The spring release doesn't snap shut as described above. The dog did walk into it once but it did not release from the magnets. We even had two people bounce off the screen. No damage done. That's when we bought decals at vendor night at the square to put on the door to show that it is closed.

We have this screen door and it must be 8yrs old and we have never had a problem with it, great investment. Very strong magnetic catch. I much prefer this type of screen door to the regular screen door.

Thanks all for the feedback. We are going to think it over a bit before we make our decision.
