Has anyone tried the new Xfinity mobile phone service. If I understand correctly it uses it's network of wifi hotspots and then relies on Verizon when wifi not available. If it works the package price looks pretty attractive. I'm currently using Direct TV, Century Link for home phone and web, and Verizon for two cell phones.

I have had Xfinity Mobile for more than 6 months and it works great for me. I have the unlimited service for $45 per month. The limitations are that you must have Comcast internet service and you cannot bring your own phone. So, you need to buy a new phone. All phone calls use the Verizon network. The wifi system is only used for data, not phone calls. I have not had any problems with the service and I highly recommend it as an inexpensive alternative to Verizon.

I have lived here for 2 years and have never had worse cell phone service any where in the US. Morse Blvd. South area. I have used 2 different major carriers, have a better phone....and can't receive calls. Now, I am going to spend $$$ on a booster.
Is it true that the Developer will not allow towers in the community? Have residents ever met with the Developer to discuss the issue? In 2001, I lived in a community that felt that way...welcome to the 21st century!!! With pressure from the residents, towers were constructed that were disguised to look like part of the landscape....this was 17 years ago!!!!! Most of us are not the age where we need to be bothered by this kind of stuff. What's going on here????? |

Also have had Xfinity Mobile since July. We love it. Our plan in 1GB = $12/month plus the cost of the phones. Even with the phones added in, our bill is way less than when we had Verizon. We live in Hadley and our reception is great.

We have had it for several months. It automatically grabs the Comcast WiFi anywhere it can. This gives you free phone/data. Same on your home WiFi. We have never used more than 1 Gig even while traveling at Christmas. Use the browser, Facebook and maps all the time. Great service for $12 a month plus taxes. I-phone 8 was a bit pricey. Still cheaper than others. Plus you get Verizon cell services. I recommend it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I guess the only downside is you have to pay full price for internet, no calling in to threaten to cancel and get a better price??

Another good thing to mention, if you are in an area with poor cell phone coverage, such as Fenny, it will use your Comcast Internet to provide phone. When we travel to rural Arkansas, this keeps us connected!

That's assuming there is a Comcast wifi Hotspot available nearby. Most all providers have that service. They call it "wifi calling." Been using it for years on both ATT and now Verizon. You can use any wifi Hotspot not just Comcast.

I am very interested in the booster. I also had verizon and switched to xfinity. With verizon I had and needed the network extender and it worked great. Verizon turned the network extender off when I switched to xfinity. please email at 648charlie@gmail.com with your results from the BOOSTER.

You don’t need a booster. xfinity connects to your home internet if cell service is not available. Works great! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

the Xfinity Mobile wifi calling feature is only available on Iphones with IOS 11.2 or higher. Apparently, it is not yet available on Android phones.

You are correct. Only IPhone 6 and newer. Here is more for iPhone users:
It extends the network coverage area for call and text, especially if you're in a region with poor cellular coverage. It's easy to set up. There's no need to download an app or log in to your XFINITY Mobile account. Once you have it enabled, it just works.WiFi calling becomes even more useful when you're traveling internationally. You can use it to call and send text messages to U.S. numbers for free when you're in another country, saving you international long distance charges. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

My bill never exceeds $12 before taxes. Just got back from a week in Hawaii and used the hotel’s internet for iPhone browsing.
