Default Sliding Screen Garage Door - A Little More Help Please

We've done most of our research and decided we want a sliding screen garage door. We don't need the overhead automatic door. And we'd like it to be one of those see-out-but-don't-see-in doors. So before we purchase, I'd just like a summary of your thoughts on things we should be aware of before we buy...

A recommended brand name door? Recommended contractor? General things we need to be aware of that we might have forgotten or not thought of? Those sorts of things.

Also...those of you who already have them...do you keep the regular garage door open much of the day? Do you feel it is a security risk? Does it help keep the garage from getting sooooo hot (even hotter than the outdoor temperature)?

I know there are some threads about this general topic. But I really wanted to avoid the overhead vs. sliding discussion, etc. and just focus on the sliding doors before we make our purchase.

Thanks a bunch in advance.

We have a screen like that, leave the garage door open most of the time during the day and lock door into kitchen. Yes, it is much cooler!

The Villages Florida

Our CYV is two years old, we had this 12' horizontal slider installer in 2012. It is white on white, you can't see in but we can see out. It was $850 installed by All Around Aluminum, we chose them after three neighbors used them and were satisfied. I would recommend them, they did a good job. They actually measure the garage opening rather than use a standard garage size, that does add about 2 or 3 weeks to the installation.

Since our washer and dryer is in the garage, we leave the garage door up all day. No more worries about snakes, alligators or bugs crawling into your garage. We also crack the attic access and it makes the attic much cooler. I believe our summer electric bills are much lower this year, our last bill was $91 and we are full time residents.
