Rent from them all the time.
(one-way rentals to the airport and back)

They can be short handed, so allow plenty of time to pick-up or drop off.

Picking up the car 3/5/14 went smoothly. On 3/12/14 we allowed 90 minutes to return the car and walk to Sumter Landing to get the bus to the airport. There was a line in the rental location and one person working. Not only was he working the line, he was answering the phones, and taking car rental reservations. After an hour two people were taken care of in line and we were still third in line. We explained we had a bus to catch and handed the gentleman all the paperwork. The people in line were in a similar situation to us and we didn't expect them to let us go ahead since they were there longer than us.

We ran to Sumter Landing and the bus was already loaded with suitcases and people. This may have been an isolated case and we plan to rent a car again from this location. We may ask when we pick up if there will be sufficient staff when we return the car.

There is also a car rental company in Spanish Springs. The only problem I had was that neither of the car rental agencies in The Villages are open on Sunday. I had an early Monday appointment in Ocala so I had to rent a car at the airport and returned it in Spanish Springs on Tuesday. I took the shuttle for my return to the airport.

Default Car rental

They do not have very good rates if you want a one way to Tampa airport. They wanted $100 for a compact car for a one day rental with a drop off at the Tampa airport. It was also cheaper at Avis or Budget in Leesburg for a one day one way rental.
