Default Replacing 2 Roof Vents.

My Handy mans wife is a nurse so he is social distancing. I need someone to replace 2 of the 18" round roof vents. 1 is moving around, I think some of the pop rivets have broken. Thanks for any help. Len

Len, if pop rivets have failed, you can replace these with the next larger size and 1 or 2 washers if necessary. i have all of these parts, but i am not getting up on the roof, sorry, and I do not do attics either.

Len, a couple of thoughts; have you called home warranty to find out the original roof installer and the make and MFG of the vents? Most of the vents I have seen have flanges under the shingles, so replacing the vents may require removing or at least lifting some shingles to get the old vent off and the new vent on. My other concern would be the age of the roof, if the shingles are old they may have become brittle. With the info on the vents it may be possible to determine if these can be repaired without impacting the roof.

I have no specific knowledge of the vents on these houses, back up North when we had the roof replaced, I saw what was done, and all of the penetrations had flanges, and I think some shingles were installed, then the vent, then the rest of the shingles so the vent flange was actually between 2 layers of shingles.

Hope this helps.

Try Larry Turner at 352-308-7646. He's knowledgeable and trustworthy but all I can vouch for is his comfort on a 6' stepladder in the house.

The roof is 4yrs old I am waiting for my roofer to get back to me. I found out he has to fix it so my warranty stays intact. Thanks for your input. Len
