Default Garage door Opener replacement

We are looking to replace out garage opener (the original Villages one) with a modern Belt Drive unit.

Looking for the following recommendations:
Make of Opener
Company to install new opener
What was your cost (if you car to share it)

Thanks for the help

I really like the Chamberlin units, the belt driver are very quiet, and they have many options for phone control, battery backup, etc. I cannot recommend an installer as i have done my own and a few neighbors. I have also figured out how to use the existing MVP mount at the door and with slight modification the mount on the ceiling. So if you decide to DIY, please contact me and I will share the info, my knees do not like me doing the work, but I can advise and lend a hand if necessary.

I also vote Chamberlain. Look for one that has MyQ capabilities so you can operate the door from your phone.

Agree that the Chamberlin belt drive or their DC chain drive are the way to go. Either way they are MUCH quieter than the old MVP units. In the past few months, we have replaced ours, DC drive in our main house and the belt drive in another home we have here. Both were done by Scott's Garage Door Service. Price about $550. installed. Cost for the new systems parts only run $350.

I recently had mine replaced with a Liftmaster by Scott's Garage Door Services. I love it. It is very quiet uses the MyQ app to control the door from the phone & participates in the Amazon 'in garage delivery' program. It came with new remote controls, a new wall controller, & a wall pad. The overhead system has better lighting than the old MVP, which I appreciate. The whole setup has been working flawlessly, & Scott & his crew did the install quickly & efficiently. Highly recommend.

I forgot to mention it is the new belt drive, not chain.

Thanks for the kind offer. I just purchased a Geni at Home Depot. They were on sale and they had a $99 install special. Worth every penny to me. When I try something like that it is never ever easy. JR

Update: I was in Home Depot on Sunday and they had a sale on openers and installation. Purchased a Genie belt-drive unit with $99 install. I will let you all know how it goes. I don’t think that I would ever use the wi-if so I did not get one with that option.

Thanks for the info. I may be in the market myself. Will be interested how installation turns out.

I didn't think so either, but I was wrong. I can open the door from anywhere on either house (TV and UpNorth) which has saved my rear a number of times.

I love the wifi part of it. It’s a peace of mind thing. You get somewhere and say to yourself “Did I close the garage door?” All I have to do is look at my phone to find out. If I left it open I can close it from the app.

I agree with the above two posts from PugChief & Kenswing. I did get all the doodads but they do make life easier.
