Default Under-cabinet lighting

Thinking about having this done the next time we are down there in May. I was just wondering about the approximate cost. We have a typical smaller courtyard villa kitchen. Also please let me know your electrical contractor if you were happy with him/her. I did find a few recommendations in other threads but nothing about the cost.
Thanks in advance,
Bruce

I actually did this myself. We have a Jasmine style home. There are actually gaps between the cabinets where you can run a wire to above the cabinets. Our home already had a outlet on top of the cabinets tied to a switch on the wall. Total cost was around 20 bucks for the 3 count under cabinet lighting from Home Depot.

Sams has some self adhesive battery operated ones that I have used before. They have 3 or 4 different colors you can set them on. Comes with remote.

We had Lenharts come to our courtyard villa a couple of years ago to do two other small projects and it was a no go on the under kitchen cabinet lights since they could not put the wiring in the walls. Ended up with puck lights from Home Depot which work ok. You do have to switch each one on and off individually though.

This is a nice DIY project, especially if your house has switched receptacles above the cabinets. If not, the newer kits have remote controls that provide on/off and dimming capability, and if you get colored LEDs, then you can have almost any color you want. I did this myself, both under cabinet and over cabinet, and inside the cabinet with the glass doors.
If you DIY, make sure the wood is good and clean (I use soap and water, dry, and then go over with alcohol, before applying the self stick LED strips. I also solder all connections, as I have had problems and know of neighbors with problems using the crimp connections, although these seem to have improved a lot lately.
Also, if you install the strip LEDs you will not have any shadows on the counter top.
Send me a PM if you would like to discuss further.
