Anyone out there or with the Simpli Safe Security System that can answer a couple of questions for me?

1. Is a permit requited and if so, where would I obtain one?

2. Will this monitoring part of the system work with a cell phone or magic jack or does it require a dedicated phone? The reason I ask is I show 2 phone jack connections on the base station.

Would appreciate any info you can provide.

I called the Sumter County Sheriff's Office - they told me I did
NOT need a permit.
The simplisafe tower has a built in sim card and therefore has it's
own cellular connection to the dispatch center. You do not need any kind
of phone set up to use this system! The phone jacks on the bottom of the
tower are for a land line if for some reason you can't make a cellular connection.
I could not connect when I initially hooked up my system. I called customer service and they sent me a Verizon sim card to replace the T-Mobile card that
came with the system. It works perfectly ! If you order the system make sure you
ask for the Verizon cellular hook-up.

Looking into some systems. Would you recommend? How was the setup? (Motion detectors, extra outside alarm)

I would recommend the Simplisafe system. It's easy to install, relatively inexpensive and they have lots of add-ons such as smoke and CO2 detectors, motion detectors, glass shatter sensors and even water sensors. I bought mine from the Simplisafe website. Surf the net for coupons - I found one for 10% off my entire order ! Also, don't forget to request the Verizon sim card.
