Default Sky Tec or Solar Guys

Looking to install 2/3 solar lights, interviews with two major suppliers conflicted, any recommendations from folks having owned one of these types for several years?

I started 12 years ago with SkyTec. Was told I have 25 year warranty on my 4 solar tubes. Doesn't seem to be true now. Since then I've worked with the solar Guys on their window film...which is great and they're good folks to do business with. Quality workmanship.

Solar Guys did our solar work, along with an attic fan, at least 9 years ago. No problems at all. Would highly recommend.

We looked at what those two companies offered and decided to choose a third:
Solar Lights and More.
We liked their products and knowledge - still do.

We got great service from Solar Guys. Never heard a complaint about them. No experience with SkyTec.

Solar Guys installed three solar tubes and two solar attic fans for us about 7 or 8 years ago. They did a great job with the installation. No problems to this point. They were recommended to me and I recommend them to others.

Have used Sky Tec for solar fans and lights on two different houses here. Definitely a better product design regarding how they seal at the roof. Definitely cooler in the attic after fan installation and the improved lighting is amazing. I would caution against installation of solar lighting in closets because of possibility of fading the clothes. Sky Tec was the only one to point that out and I appreciate it. Sky Tec's written warranty clearly states "Lifetime warranty on the tubular skylight leakage and the fan, five years workmanship, and such goods must be the original installation and original roofing materials." Also, that Leakage Warranty is not transferable. This information is very current as their installations on my second house were completed in March 2015. Great guys to work with!

Solar Guys...just finished installing another solar tube in our living room. Professional, knowledgeable and the Installed does not push you to purchase more until you see the light impact...we will do business with them again.......

Solar Guys installed five sun tunnels for us, and we're happy campers.

Default The Solar Guys

I first want to thank all of you for your kind words and recommendations. In a free-market, a customer should always have choices. Here at The Solar Guys, we have always believed that customers deserve choices. The question becomes, however, how do you determine which choice is good, better, or best? When it comes to a tubular skylight, the formula is very simple.

1. PRODUCT - It's good to keep in mind that when shopping for a tubular skylight you are not buying a device (10 inch, 14 inch, 18 inch, etc.) Instead, what you are actually shopping for and buying is how much light the device gives you. So the size of the tube, and even the brand-name on the tube, really should be secondary to the performance of the tube. Only the genuine, patented Solatube brand, installed exclusively by The Solar Guys, is still the highest performing tubular skylight with a money back guarantee to support the claim. All other brands are thus guaranteed to underperform. It doesn't make them bad products, it just means that they can't compete with the genuine article and so can’t be evaluated as a side-by-side comparison as apples to apples.

2. COMPANY - Think of what you want from a company: Reliable, high quality products and exceptional service. When it comes to a tubular skylight installation company, how do you verify that?

BBB and Angies List: These agencies provide unsolicited, actual customer feedback so that you can make a decision based on, not just company promises, but on company fulfillment. In other words, does the company actually meet or even exceed their promises for products and services well beyond the sale? The Solar Guys has a proven, documented track record that spans 15 years and over 60,000 customers in the Villages and all through Central Florida. Any company asking for your business should provide the same reassurance, don’t you think?

Showroom: Since you are buying “light” with a tubular skylight and “light” can’t be measured over the phone or with words, shouldn't you be able to see and experience what a product gives you before you buy it? With our permanent Showroom location here in Summerfield, The Solar Guys gives you just that opportunity. We can bring you into a room and demonstrate what an actual “before” and “after” looks like so that you don’t have to make assumptions as to whether our products are worth your hard-earned money. You can prove it to yourself. Any company wanting to sell their services should offer you the same opportunity to “see before you buy,” wouldn’t you agree?

Expertise: Due to the roof penetration, to some extent any roof-mounted product is only as good as the skilled (or unskilled) hands that install it. The Solar Guys is the only company in The Villages area that holds both a Roofing and General Contractors license and only installs using their trained, certified technicians. This gives you the peace of mind that only experts are touching your roof. In addition, our lifetime installation warranty on shingle roofs backs up our claim of reliable service well after your investment. Any company wanting to compete with us should not only say that they offer the same service, but should be able to prove that they do. Isn’t that reasonable?

We invite any of our prospective customers to call us or visit our local Showroom to see and experience what most of The Villages has already discovered: The Solar Guys and Solatube difference! 866-669-5259
