Default Gloss or Satin for laminate flooring

We are about to replace the carpets in our home with laminate floor. Would like some comments about gloss verses satin. We know many have done the same in The Villages so looking for does and dont's. Appreciate your suggestions.

In general, there are so many brands and various surface designs, it would be difficult to make a call that would cover every application.

A glossy floor can be breathtakingly beautiful if it is meant to be the focal point of the home. Open spaces enhance the look and furniture with clean lines makes a great compliment.

A satin finish is visually quiet and adds a softer look to the space. Great choice when your furnishings and wall decor are designed to impart a tranquil feeling.

I would consider:

1) daily maintenance- dust and bits of whatnot on the floor are part of everyday living. Both floor finishes will show it, but the glossy will show it more.... so maintenance is more frequent, especially if lanai doors or windows are open or if there are furry pets at home.

2) Whether one finish is more or less slippery than the other (say, if you have socks on.)

3) Whether either finish is better at hiding scratches that inevitably happen, or small imperfections beneath the floor that may show later.

4) If you have floor lamps that shine down.... don't want annoying glare when you enter a room.

Whatever you choose, I am excited for you! These things are so fun!

We choose semi-gloss, but that can be finish brand specific,
U need samples in daylight and indoor light than you should know.
