Default UBER Service

Is there a reliable UBER service in TV? Have you used UBER and would you recommend it. I have an elderly lady friend who needs a ride from time to time.

It is as reliable as other locations given the limited number of drivers here. Have used Uber upwards of a hundred times throughout many US cities and always found them very reliable. Only concern would be number of cars available here.

Both Uber and Lyft have service in The Villages. But there aren't that many drivers so how quickly they respond depends on how many are free at the time you request one.

I just looked on each of their app's and each has about 3 cars in the area. But you don't know if they are available until you request one.

Just as an example taking Lyft or Uber from the Village of Pinellas (south of 466A) to Sumter Landing is about $17. Not sure how that compares to local taxies.

And those three Lyft drivers may actually be the same Uber drivers since people often drive for both companies.

You beat me to it Kenswing. Many drivers run Uber and Lyft at the same time. This gives them less down time. If you see 3 Uber driving around on the Uber app and 3 Lyft drivers in the area, yep, they may be the same cars.

That seems expensive for 4.5 miles...
Close to $4 a mile

It's what I was quoted when I looked up in the Lyft app on my phone to go to Sumter Landing. I just tried it again right now and got $16.65. It's less than 5 miles from my house to Sumter landing.

I wonder what the autonomous cars will charge. There's no driver so it should be cheaper. But the uber guy is driving a $20k car [just a guess] and an autonomous car might cost $100k.

I think 10-30 people ought to go in on a pick up truck lease and take turns keeping it in their driveway. The Uber ride is $20 including tip. How many people would you need if each monthly payment was $20 each?
