Default Home Owners Insurance

After 3 years of waiting we are closing on a house in Village La Reynalda October 7. I have seen many recommendations for Villages Insurance but I can not find their phone number. Please advise. Who do you recommend and their phone number. Thanks very much for all the help past and future from this forum.

Virginians:

The Villages Insurance
at Spanish Springs 352-753-2280
at Lake Sumter Landing 352-751-6622
at Colony Plaza 352-751-5720

For La Reynalda either Spanish Springs or Lake Sumter Landing would be most convenient.

I've used USAA for better than 30 years, so cannot suggest anyone else. Sorry.

I had been with USAA for about 20 yrs but then we moved to Fla. I found their rates non-competitive. I recently had them quote me again on auto and home and again Travelers beat them by over 20 percent.
Our driving record is very good and no claims on home so just don't understand this. I think they really don't want much to do with Florida as is the case with some insurance companies.

We got a better deal with AAA than with the Villages Insurance, mainly because AAA was able to get us a discount with a combination policy for our home and autos. The Villages Insurance had to quote from two different companies, and was more expensive.

I used AAA and was very pleased with the cost and coverage. I had to do everything over the phone before I arrived and it went real well.

Signed up with AAA last year when we bought here as they were lower than The Villages Insurance. This year we shopped around and saved about $300 on all of our policies, except golf cart, by going with Allstate. (352-753-4340)

Just asked my agent with the Villages Insurance to review my homeowners policy to see if I was covered for everything that I needed to be. She informed me that it was my responsibility to read my own policy and decide this. I asked if they could send an agent to the house on my next trip down. She said they don't come to homes I would have to make an appointment to meet with her at the office. Maybe it is time for me to start looking for a new company. Any suggestions?

Default Warning on Auto Insurance

I learned the hard way. We sold all our vehicles before we came to the Villages except our motorhome. Then sold it when we got here. My mom was here with her car and we used it for several months, so with no vehicle in our name we didn't have insurance in our name. When we checked with USAA (my mom's insurance), we did not need to be listed on the insurance, but we would be covered if driving her car. Then when we went to get insurance, we were told that if you have a lapse in auto insurance, you will be considered a risk and your insurance will be substantially higher for 3 years. Made a difference of about $400 a year and my understanding is we will have this rate for 3 years. Both TV and Allstate Insurance agents told us this.
