Default VETERINARIANS

Hi-
I am coming from Ohio for two months in November/December --to check out the lifestyle in The Villages. I will be bringing my 14 year old Yorkie with me...she has been living with cancer for three years. I would like to establish contact with a GOOD vet prior to coming down there....can someone recommend? A vet certified in internal medicine would be best---but, I'm interested in any recommendations.
Thanks,
Lynn

I can recommend Dr. Jennifer Teitelbaum on CR 42 - Mulberry Veterinarian Services. She's very good and thorough.

My "child" is healthy but emergencies are one of my main concerns. To the best of my knowledge Country Oaks are the only one with on call 24 hour and holiday emergency service....they also have a traveling van. Most vets in the area will send you to Leesburg for the 24hour Emergency Vet. Don't know about any cancer vets though.

Thanks!
Now, what about pet grooming? Sweetie Pie needs to be bathed once a week (I cannot do it)...and then a full grooming every six weeks. Any recommendations? I can't take her to one of those places where you just drop them off and pick them up several hours later. I'd prefer someone who does it in their home--where I can have an appointment and wait.
Thanks!
Lynn

We have a Westie and use the mobile vet services called "Housecalls." They come to your home in a state of the art mobile home. It is so well equipped that they can perform surgery on your pet in your driveway. We just had our dog's teeth cleaned which required them to put her under. Our dog runs to them whenever they arrive and jumps right in the mobile unit, and they love our dog.

I had a bad experience with groomer in Baylee Plaza. The Vet for Housecalls has a sister who is now doing grooming, and we are going to try her next.

That sounds like a great service. Do you have their phone number or web site? Barb

We recommend Dr. Jennifer Barnett at Paws Animal Hospital at Mulberry...We have a great deal of confidence in her and recommend her highly. She has cared for our cocker spaniel in an exemplary manner....plus she is a real sweetheart with a great staff!

86 people have read this post .. that is great! One reason we picked the Villages is that we have a large dog, and few places in Florida allow them. So it is wonderful to hear there are so many pet lovers in TV.

Russ, great input about the Vet Service, thanks.

Russ,
A little confused about this place...House Calls Mobile Pet Clinic.

Is it for GROOMING or is it for emergency if your dog is ill or both?
Thanks,
Lynn

Hi,
I live in the Villages and I highly recommend Dr. Tina Merritt of Animal Clinic of Lady Lake. It is located on Ry 25 not far from the Villages. She is not only a wonderful Vet, but extremely sensitive and caring to the needs of your animals....I and several friends have been going to her and I am extremely pleased with her office and the staff...hopes this helps...Kathy
