Default Worker appreciation

As the roofing crew toils on my house in 95 degree heat, I'm reminded of the TV show Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe. His aim was to bring attention to and praise the unsung folks who do the hard, smelly, noisy, filthy work that most of us don't want to.

I think roofing for 10-12 hours a day has got to be one of the most physically strenuous jobs, but I also applaud the landscape crews, granite counter top installers, agricultural field workers, sewer cleaners, people who wriggle into residential crawlspaces to do foundation work, etc. I tip my indolent hat to all of them!

One thing COVID-10 has done is remind me how important these often low-wage jobs are to keeping me fed, housed, and comfortable.
