I would suggest you move to the newest area of T.V. Everyone there wants to make friends since they are starting a new phase of their lives away from family and friends. It will also contain the highest percentage of younger people. Read the Thursday activity guide and see how many actives you would truly be interested in joining. If there are quite a few you are good to go and age doesn't matter. What astounds me about T.V. is the range of experience, knowledge and peoples willingness to share it. If you want to play baseball you will try out for 3 days to find your correct level of experience, from novice to retired professional. Pickleball, Bridge, Ma Jong, Quilting, Dancing anything and everything has people dabbling and others with tremendous experience.
