A friend asked me, if voter mails in vote early but dies before election, will vote count. Google, answer, some states yes, some no. Are there other examples of this?

Mom, Dad and I voted in person as soon as we were allowed. Sorry but I would never trust the PO with my vote. Counted!

back in 1960 there were a lot of dead people in Cook County, IL that voted for JFK...so it seems that you don't have to be alive for your vote to be counted

There were two recounts, and in each of them, JFK won anyway. It didn't matter that there were a handful of fraudulent votes. And - at that point, the votes were DISCOUNTED. So no, they didn't count. There was also a fraudulent batch of votes from 56 people who supposedly all lived in the same house (obviously they didn't). Even after those votes were DIScounted - JFK still ended up being the winner in Illinois.

So yes - you do have to be alive for your vote to count, and your little myth about Cook County actually proves it.

It doesn’t count in Michigan, but not sure how they know if someone died before the election.

How would they know you died? If they did and the state allowed counting votes before election day even if they knew you died they would not know which ballot was yours if it had been counted before they were informed of your death. Same problem if you died and someone else sent in your ballot. Guess the only way to beat the dead voting is to have to show up in person.

I know someone who died seven years ago and is still listed on FL voter registration list. So I don't know how they keep track of anybody.
