True. I watched a documentary some time back about the Soviet prison system. Not sure if it is still operated the same was under Putin but I wouldn't doubt it.
Under the Soviet system a condemned prisoner wasn't told what their execution date was. One day a couple of very large guards show at the prisoner's cell and take the prisoner out of the cell another room. The room had a tile floor with a drain in the middle. The prisoner was forced to kneel and was then shot in the back of the head.
I have watched other documentaries on the Russian prison system under Putin, and it is a brutal existence. Haven't seen anything on how their executions are conducted.
