By the look in Chauvin's eyes, I don't think he'd think twice about abusing his wife. Maybe she saw this as a good opportunity to rid herself of him forever.

Can't blame her. Must be frightening to live with a cold blooded murderer.

Maybe Mrs. Chauvin has been the recipient of his brutality at home. I would put money on it. I doubt, he is calm, attentative and loving at home, then goes to work and has it in him to kneel on someone's neck until they die.

You are, who you are.

Wouldn’t be surprised if this was just the last straw in their marriage.

I hope not. Media needs to speak up about the horror of the crime and the horror of how some went beyond protest and honest follow through to see justice....to raw violence and looting. This isn’t what MLK had in mind.

Most want peaceful co-existence and rule of law.

As far as protecting assets. The event happened during their marriage. So a civil lawsuit will look at their assets at the time of the event. Not sure of Minnesota laws but looks like she will get nothing if a lawsuit is successful.

Who knows. There was probably a lawyer involved who wrote the statement distancing herself from her husband. Is this how she feels? Who knows.

If he is like this in public, I can’t even imagine what she endures at home 😢

All you posters discussing his private life, like you know everything. You never even heard of his name until a week ago. Now, he was the worst husband, wife beater in the world, according to some dumb poster on a message board in a retirement community in Florida. You people should get a LIFE!!!

At this time we know nothing about their private lives but seem to have chosen to "assume" that he had just as little compassion within his personal relations as he showed for the person that he arrested. We will see. What is obvious is that much of the retaliation (if you can call it that) is not against the authorities actions but an excuse to vandalise and steal. That photo of two women coming out of a store loaded with personal clothing just about sums it up -- a mindset that says "here is a singular opportunity to get some material items for free".

Default Missing the big picture?

Something that wasn’t mentioned in this dissection was. The money.
In that, how in the world does a policeman make enough money to have a home in the Minneapolis area and in Windermere, Florida.
My brother is a cop. They don’t make a heck of a lot of money.
My bet is Ms. Chauvin is the main breadwinner and she is rightfully saving herself and her children. IMHO of course.
