the media has the right to say, do and ruin anyones life as they please. they have the right to report fake news and lies about anyone they choose without penalty.

if it was a black person missing, they would be lucky to get a digital notice over a highway....

He is also missing now

You misspelled "hiding"...

I am happy to see that this non-story is not getting much traction in serious media (NYT, WaPo). It might be there somewhere, but not splashed across the front pages.

Now the Fiance, (suspect), Brian Laundrie's family have reported him missing since Tuesday.

Don't understand why this has to be made a racial issue...

Given the mess that our country is in, if you have any interest in this case whatsoever you need to rearrange your life priotities.

Read the book A Rip in Heaven and u may better understand why this man is not speaking and has a lawyer. I guided my children in this direction after reading.

Obviously, if he committed a crime, the fiance has the legal right to not reveal anything that would result in his arrest and prosecution. He is following his lawyer's advice. The media and others are putting immense pressure on the fiance with unrelenting coverage of him. I suspect that he cannot even safely leave his house. I'm conflicted about this. If he is just exercising his legal rights, does the media have the right to effectively ruin his life? Should the law be changed? What do you think?

From my arm chair, the analysis is simple. His legal rights do not supersede her rights to life. Only a person responsible for her disappearance or death would act as he is doing. My simple conclusion is that he killed her. His actions speak louder that his words (which happen to be none).

Yeah, I don't see this ending well. He either killed her or injured her and left her in the wilderness.

I agree. The media has too much power and almost no accountability. I think they have the right to report that the fiance is not talking, but they shouldn't have the right to report it non-stop, hour after hour, and in a such way that it ruins his life.

Don't go on a cruise with an angry spouse, either.

GypsyRN 09-18-2021 07:13 AM

Oh, please!!! Glad you're NOT in a position of authority too!! Without the mere "scantest" of facts, there are those who seem to lean towards convicting the fiance' without so much of an investigation!! He doesn't "have" to talk to ANYONE at any time!

I've always felt that if I was ever so unfortunate to be tried for "ANYTHING", I'd much prefer to have my fate decided by a judge, than a jury composed of jurors whose mindset leans towards that paralleling yours!! Geez!!

Maybe. But, "You have the right to remain silent" has been the law since 1966. Apparently, he could be given immunity and be required to talk or be prosecuted.
