There financial problems existed long before Covid and now they are getting bailed out on the backs of responsible tax payers. Very sad. As far as the $2,800 stimulus my wife and I recently received, we will be needing at least that to cover the ever increasing price of gas and oil since the new administration has taken over.

The Federal Deficit was $439 billion in 2015. You’re aiming at the wrong enemy.

Oh please, what foolishness you've been fed. The cancelled "pipeline" is not built and has not moved a single drop of crude. Its existence sometime in the future or its cancellation has exactly ZERO influence on the price of oil today. Same with the claim posted that the executive actions cancelling drilling permits which have not been issued and have produced nothing has no influence on the price of oil today. The US exports oil to over 100 different countries. This has not changed since Jan 20th. The big increase in US oil production happened under the administration that was in office from 2009 to 2017. I know you don't hear that from some news sources which continuously tell you how terrible the energy policy has been.

Gas was 1.88 a year ago because the country and the world were shutting down. Demand was down as no one knew how deep the economic consequences of Covid were going to be. Now things are improving, so demand is up. This is so simple even Fox News should understand it. But when their experts later claim that no reasonable person should believe them, I can't find fault with your falling victim to such misinformation.

The economy is in trouble and families are hurting. The stimulus will help many to survive, and help others to stimulate the economy slightly. It is only a bump to help the worker bees. I am not getting a check and never have, but I am not against helping others. I know some who are giving their checks to others .. caregivers. Please don’t prejudge.

We all need too ‘bump’ out of this pandemic and return to a semblance of normalcy.
Florida is still a viral playground. Wait 2-4 weeks and note the effects of spring breaks.

Look my family (we aren't Villagers but it's in my backyard) unfortunately is one who needs this help. Both my brother and I lost our jobs last year and we struggle to stay afloat making a mortgage payment, taxes, utilities, my car payment, auto insurance, groceries. It's tough but we're here and we have each other to lean on.

I'm really glad some of you don't need the money. Do what Winston said, put it back into our community. Get take out, tip well. Buy something you always wanted. Many businesses of all sizes are struggling too and by putting that money out there you help them feed their families.

This isn't a political issue, it's an American issue and I'm glad the government is helping our own when we need it.

If they were really interested in helping people and stimulating the Economy they could have given $10K to everybody in the form of debit cards which could have been used to pay mortgages, rent or to go out and buy goods and services that would help employ people. In the end we probably would have saved a trillion dollars. This is typical of Washington. Throw the people a bone then pay off all your friends and supporters.

Please please fact check.

Decreasing fracking will do the same for Natural Gas prices...

hmmm! As a bonus it might, just might, help climate change.

Spot on with this comment. Don’t you just love the myth that everyone living in The Villages is rich! Many of us worked for 40 years, avoided spending what we earned on “instant gratification”, saved all that we could for our retirement years, paid our taxes and now live comfortably in The Villages, FL. If that makes us rich, then so be it.

There are 1000's of couples living in The Villages with a paid-off house, no debt, tons of money in the bank, free paid medical insurance and as long as their gross adjusted yearly income is under $150,000, the couple will receive $2,800 in free US tax dollars. This is on top of the two prior stimulus checks they have received in the past six months.

I honestly believe those folks who need the money should be helped, but this stimulus money was not meant for people who didn't need it and for those people living in The Villages that meet this criteria and don't need the stimulus money are just scamming the rest of us.

FG111 - I agree, also all the other FREE things. Wonder how long it’ll be before the U.S. goes bankrupt!

Rich is more than money.

Please, do us all a favor, and read the stimulus bill, and then, maybe then, we will all be better informed, and not pass on misinformation.

You don’t have an idea what this is about !
I would say educate yourself on this matter.

What pipeline?
The rate was so low because demand was not there.

The stimulus is just that, to stimulate the economy and the vast majority of folks who will receive it will truly need it. As for those who do not need the money, they have a couple of choices. They can always return it, or better yet, donate it to a worthy charity. A charity will certainly be able to spend the money and stimulate the economy.

Someone bought my old golf cart with their family’s stimulus check and I coupled it with my family’s stimulus check to stimulate my credit card company to the tune of 8400 - now I’m not going to complain.
