Default Coolaroo for the Lanai $1900

Hi,

I got an estimate from Home Dept to put Coolaroo's blinds on my Lanai for around $1900. I have a Lilac with a two foot stretch in the width and a 4 foot stretch out the back of the Lanai.

They didn't come out to measure yet, but our screen sections are

4 -- 79" x 90"
1 -- 59" x 90"
1 -- 49" x 90"

Is that what they cost? What have others done for their Lanai blinds.

Although certainly not custom, we just purchased a ready-made Coolaroo shade at Lowe's for $120.00 which my husband will install. It comes with the necessary things for installation

You can check out the different choices (size, colors and fabric) online.

Ours were close to one thousand from Home Depot. We waited until they did a percentage off sale.(You can ask at the desk, sometimes they know and sometimes they don't) We only had the back done and not the side. They charge you $35 to measure and then that is deducted from the cost when they are installed.

I looked at Coolaroo shades and I think with the number and sizes of the shades you are talking about, the price sounds good.

We ordered a big roll of coolaroo fabric from Amazon several years ago and sewed up big "drop roll" curtains per the diagram on the Coolaroo website. Total cost for complete coverage of the lanai (3 sides) was about $300.

Default Get another estimate

I priced out Cooleroos at Lowe's & walked out of the store without paying the $35 for them to come out & measure, because I felt the price was high. I called Shutters, Blinds & Designs in Umatilla, FL (352) 771-2093 for a free estimate & found their prices & choices of fabrics, etc., to be better. Ordered from them, & was very happy with the product, service, installation, etc.

Can you see in or out of the Coolaroo shades or do they totally block your view?

If you can get away without using custom cuts in these blinds lowes or HD has them at prices that range from around $60 to $90. They will install them for a fee. You can also do a search on the internet for that brand. You will be surprised at the prices.

Coolaroo comes in 2 varieties with different degrees of opacity. In both cases, you can see through them to some degree.
