Today I helped two neighbors with exactly the same problem flickering or dim under cabinet LED strip lights. In both cases these appear to be installed when the houses were constructed (south of 44) and in both cases the plastic connector from the power wiring (24 VDC) to the LED strip had bad connections. In one case it appears the connection was bad at the LED strip, in the other case it appears the bad connection was to the wire.
In both cases these were compression insulation piercing type connections.

In one case this was found by applying pressure to the connector and the flickering stopped, in the other case the connector was observed to be warm to the touch.

In both cases the connectors were removed and replaced with soldered connections.

IMHO if you happen to have flickering LED strip lights or LED strip lights that dim on their own, check connectors. I have seen these fail several times over the years from different manufacturers.

Hi there! Most cases a connector over time can become loose or vaulty and that is the first thing we look for. The Villages New Construction recommends and requires electrical contractors to now use American Lighting products. Previously, it was Diode or Kichler. If anyone finds themselves with an area of tape lighting no longer working, this could be the culprit and we carry connectors for all types.
If the entire set up of lighting is out, this could be a bad transformer or dimmer.
We see very often with surge damage, the transformer is the first thing to be affected.
