My lamp post sensor goes on about 2 hours before my street neighbors and remains on for about 1 1/2 hours after everyone's turns off.
Looking for an explanation; troubleshooting thoughts; and a solution. |

Ours was acting up too and I replaced the whole sensor thing-a-ma-bob. Went to Ace because they always know what I need when I don't ! It wasn't too bad to replace. Good luck.

I think it's like a phone... You take the post off and run around the yard in a figure eight and it will straighten right up!
![]() OK... kidding..... What he said! ![]()

Is there a plant wrapped around the post?? If so trim it back from the sensor. That solved our problem....................

Soon your lights will remain "on" 24 hours a day. As ddan stated, replacement is a simple job. shouldn't take more than a few minutes. Just make note of which wires are on the current (inoperative) sensor and install the new one in the same way. The sensor is removed by simply turning the unit as you would a bottle cap. You may have to remove the top portion of your lamp post in order to hold the unit in place.

Lamp post sensor replacement -
Step 1: Shut off the circuit breaker that supplies power to the lamp post................(I could just see me forgetting to do that!) ![]() Bill ![]() |

Like I mentioned, I could just envision that being something I'd forget to do. I spend a lot of time second-guessing myself so that (hopefully) I don't screw too many things like that up!

#1- as already stated, trim any bushes, plants that may be obscuring the eye.
#2- Clean the eye. Many times it just gets dirty. #3- If the above does not work, replace the eye. It is an easy procedure. If you do not want to do #3, just set ALL of your clocks back 2 hours.....all will then be well. ![]() Frank
