Thanks dr. I did call Mathews and talked to James. It sure took me a while but the new windows were installed today by Mathews 800 226 3667.

Here is the history for anybody who is thinking about doing this in the future.

Owner installed window kits are the least expensive but it takes an expensive sheet metal tool called a nibbler to do it right. Best deal for the individual is to have a contractor do it.

I have a double door and golf cart garage door or a total of 11 windows.

Kits from Romac $29.00ea. owner installed= $319.00
kits from Romac installled $47.00ea = $517.00

Kits from Mathews $15.00 owner installed= $165.00

Mathews will provide completly new door panels with factory installed windows $190.00 for the double door, $70.00 for the golf cart door and $95.00 to deliver and install the new panels = $355.00

I chose the last example above. Partly because I didn't have the right tool to cut the openings note the clearances are tight and partly to make sure I still had the wind load rating from factory components.

It took about three weeks to get the new panels in and installed. I took much longer trying to figure out if I could do the $165.00 example and still by a cutting tool ( could't rent one) for less than $355.00. It would have been close to a wash and I would have had to eat a mistake if one was made. So I took the cowards way out and paid a little more.

THE END
