Question Gas burner doesn't light

The back burner on my gas range no longer lights. I tried to poke the hole with a needle but it didn't work. Should I call the gas company to perhaps relight the pilot...or a handyman?

I have not seen a gas stove with a pilot light in many years. You should hear a clicking sound when you turn on the burner. Try this turn off the lights in the kitchen, and try to turn on the burner that does not work, if you do not hear the clicking or see a small blue/yellow spark the igniter is most likely bad. Call the repairman for the stove. If you see the spark, then the gas flow toward the igniter may be diverted by dirt. My suggestion, call the repairman for the stove and have the burner cleaned.
Hope this helps.
