The repairman was called by Samsung to repalce the capicators in the tech bulletin. When you talk to Samsung they tell you there may be something else wrong with the set...thats not under warranty.

Right now I am looking at the digital box from Comcast as possibly being the culprit for when I go directly from the wall to the set all seems to be well...but of course I can only get limited channels.

Repair man just left and replaced four capacitors. when we checked the screen has two thin lines on both sides. Repairman pulled cover off again and played with it for a while. He said if the lines stayed maybe picture is going. Well I have had TV for about two hours nd lines disappeared. Still think I will be doing an advanced search for a new TV

joshnc55...you might call customer service to see whether you are entitled to the free in home repair of the failed or failing capacitors. My 2 year old 52 inch Samsung was out of warranty but still covered by the technical bulletin issued about the known faulty capacitors.

I read on the i-net and watched a youtube video about an EZ fix. I ordered the parts....bought a soldering iron....quit fishing for a day.....and got to work.

Removed old bulging capacitors....installed new....plugged in tv & PRESTO.

Total cost

$13.95 repair kit
$15.00 soldering iron because I gave mine to the kids when we moved to TV

I found a 42" Poloroid, same problem, 2 caps, cost $5.80, i had a soldering iron :-)
