I'm guessing you need the outside controller (see link). Mine failed as well and when my neighbor upgraded he gave me his. If you can't open the link, it is on ebay listed as Allstar MVP Garage Opener WKE 318 Wireless Keyless Keypad Entry 110927 for $40.

I think one of the common failures on these controllers is the little black microswitch used to lock/unlock its operation. You may want to try flipping it on and off and see if you get an intermittent failure....looking for a smoking gun. My controller was not operating consistently and I did that and it's been fine. Could be coincidence.

You can try bypassing the switch to see if that solves the problem. Let me know if this helps.

The MVP 'super station' has been fixed, I want to thank all that responded. There was some corrosion on the wiring, once this was cleaned up all is working. It was not apparent on the initial inspection and took a magnifying glass to find it.
