I belonged to a private club in DE prior to coming to TV
My bill each month approached 4 figures factoring in cart rental etc

Come November, temporary greens and tee boxes would spring up intermittently as repairs and renovations occurred.

So, on those “good” weather days (50-55, wind and likely overcast) I would don pants turtleneck sweater and beanie, throw some hot hands in my pockets and suffer less than ideal conditions.

I liken these execs to a public course, the layouts are mostly great and the conditions are to be expected, given the high volume of play. And 50 degree weather is a day of rest as opposed to a rare opportunity to play.

Correct, and PWAC everywhere else. Point remains the same. The CDDs are not responsible for the executive golf courses.

Played Okeechobee Friday. Will give the greens **. Unfortunately, I fixed at least three bad ball marks each hole. @&”@$&*# There are golfers playing here that just don’t know any better and some that just don’t give a damn. Sad.

Most of the bad executive greens I've come across this winter have nothing to do with the players.

Always a bit of subjectivity in discussions such as this: what one person might see as acceptable might be met with vehement disagreement by another person. However what cannot be disputed is the disparity of green quality, course to course. Case in point: we played El Diablo a couple of days back and the greens were atrocious. Weeds sprouting up, bare spots--you name it. We played El Santiago this morning and the greens were in excellent condition! Two courses adjoining one another; same type of ground, roughly the same number of players, most likely even the same groundskeepers--but the disparity in quality between the greens of the two courses is remarkable.

I have a hard time understanding that.

Default Really, that is what you are complaining about!

sure some of them are not very good but where else do you golf basically for free. Go off site and pay. Some of those courses are in great shape and not that expensive. No big deal. Get over it

So skip it next time in your rotation! It won't kill you if you play on a course that's not in great shape, you should watch the carts driving all over the course without handicap tags, just lazy a$$e$ who refuse to walk further than 10 feet.

The greens at Churchill Greens were excellent today by Executive course standards. I’ve played much worse on Championship courses over the years. The renovations payed dividends.

Agree about Bonita Pass. Worst greens I have experienced in The Villages in over 20 years (4 times per week). Interspersed grass and dirt/sand make putted balls go hoppity hop. Strongly suggest not playing here if you want to play golf. Only play if all you want to do is chat.
