Is Palmer Legends one of the easier courses?

My email is mpmwilkinson@gmail.com and I don't think we have a phone yet. I would love to hear from all of you but if you email, could you include your TOTV name and your real name? Without yet being able to put a name to a face, it's all a bit of a jumble!

Arriving late October! Yay!

Palmer is the Country Club. The courses associated with Palmer are all championship courses which are harder and require a fee to play or additional membership to play. It would be best as beginners to stick with the executive courses. The exec courses are free to play. You pay a $4.00 fee for each person playing golf and riding in a golf cart. Folks who walk the courses pay nothing. We buy a yearly trail fee. It's easier that way. The executive courses have numerical par values from 1-5, 1 being the easiest. I suggest we start with
courses with a 1 or 2. I am not at home right now to look up the names of the courses when we all meet for lunch at Palmer, I can bring a list of the courses.

I'm thinking Palmer Ledgends might be a central location where we could meet in the parking lot and organize ourselves over lunch. What do you think, ladies? Also, not being very adept at these sites, how do we share private info like phone and email?
Good idea to meet for lunch at Palmer and get this thing rolling. BTW, safe travels and welcome to TV.

The best way is for each person who is interested to send a private message(pm) on this site to you. You can either answer each person with a PM or just gather the email addresses and send a group email with a date and time to meet at Palmer. I will send you a PM to get you started😀. JC

If you get enough response my wife is trying to learn. I am afraid I am not the best teacher and she would benefit from learning with a group. We have had a home here for five years but just moved down full time. Please let us know if you get this off the ground.
thanks

Smile Beginners ladies golf

I am interested in a beginners ladies golf group also. Moved to TV in July this year, took lessons at Palmers awhile ago. I live in Gilchrist and my husband and I have joined a beginners group that plays Thursday evenings, so that time would be out for me. I may also know of a couple other ladies that might want to play with ladies only too. Just let me know when the meet and greet will be.

I finished the "new to golf school" on Friday. The instruction was good regarding technique and hand placement etc. But we had very limited time with a club actually in our hands. We only used 4 clubs, so I still have lots to learn.

I was under the impression that we would have the clubs for the week in order to practice in the afternoons, but that is not the case. That was very disappointing to me. I would have liked to practice what I was taught each day.

Once the course is over we have access to "demo clubs" for 30 days. I went to get my demo clubs today and they gave me 4 clubs (5 wood, 7 iron, Putter, Pitching wedge) and the bag. No driver. Oh, well.....

My hubby took me out to play my first round today. I was pathetic. But I can get out of the bunkers well....that is the one bright spot.

Lots of room to improve....that's for sure.

I am certainly interested in a newbie ladies group. PM me with info ladies, please!
Hi Dottie,
I hope you continue to enjoy and improve on your golf. Don't feel too disappointed that you weren't given a driver to practise with. The driver is probably the most difficult club in the bag to hit (followed closely by a 64 degree lob wedge!) and beginners that start off struggling with a driver are putting themselves at a disadvantage right from the start. They grind away with this fearsome club every time they stand on the tee and are only giving themselves negative feedback which won't help their later playing ability. The pro gave you the most sensible clubs to start with. A 5 wood (or even a 7 wood) is much easier to use: not only is is shorter, but the loft will get the ball in the air and you will feel like you are hitting 'real' golf shots. This will give you confidence as well as more enjoyment. As an experiment, you could try going to the driving range with a borrowed driver and a 5 wood, and seeing which one gets the ball further - you might be surprised.
I hope you don't think I'm dictating, I'm only offering a little friendly advice although I do sincerely believe it will make you a better golfer in the long run, especially if you combine it with a few lessons.
I'm just another lady golfer who was lucky enough to benefit from a very good pro and I like to pass on his suggestions whenever I can.
Enjoy your group!!

I'm interested also. We'll be back next Monday. I'm also wondering if anyone is north of 466 because it might be easier to split in to two groups.

Ok.....having driven through the pouring rain from PA I'm so happy to be here. Looks like we have enough interest to organize ourselves. Can we possibly meet on Monday, October 5, at 12:00 in the parking lot at Palmer Ledgends Golf Course? If we go into the lot and all the way to the right and park in front of the building where some of us took lessons, we can gather and go talk over lunch. Neither the time nor date is etched in stone. I just chose something to get the ball rolling. For those not in town yet......no worries. We'll organize an email list to include all who are interested. I am not good at this type of forum and don't really know how to,private message so responses here would be good.. If you have others who are not on this forum but interested....bring them. Anyone really wanting to come but needing a different date or time.......let this forum know. Here's hoping this works out!!
