Bladder dropping
Ladies. My gyn said bladder starting to drop and those who had a complete hysterectomy are more prone to this occurring.
I remember my mom had the surgery with net involved and it was not successful for her pain unbearable I'm worried if I will need this down the road. Any tips, good Drs who perform the surgery etc Tks |

Much easier to have a pessary, a smooth plastic ring that holds bladder up and in place. You can’t feel it. You can wash it and insert it yourself regularly, as easy as a tampon. The nets have possible complications, dig into your body and infections make it necessary for an operation to remove. And the net requires surgery in the first place. For the pessary you go to your gyn and she measures the size you need, you get it at the drug store and that is it. My mother lived with it all her life, no problems.

Definitely a pessary is the way to go. Very simple solution for a problem many of us have to deal with.

Dr Flaherty at The Villages Specialty Clinic might be someone for you to have a conversation with. He's a gyn and deals with bladder issues too.

The best doctor for this issue is Dr Steven McCarus who practices is celebration and Winter Park and is affiliated with Advent Health. He is an amazing women’s health doctor. Google him and read his bio. my bladder
Dropped from multiple child births and difficult ones. I had a partial hysterectomy and a bladder repair. He does not Use netting etc... he uses your own tissue to tack it Back in place. Him and his wife are both physicians and work together. They are both amazing. Good luck. |

All of us have a dropped bladder as we get older. Don’t worry about surgery at this point, it’s much too soon. Just wear a pad and see how it goes

Highly recommend Dr. Emily Weber-Lebrun, a uro-gynecologist associated with the University of Florida. She's located at the UF Summerfield office. 352-355-1296. If surgery is required, it is performed at Shands in Gainesville.
