Oh, great... To the finger prints add several very large tongue swipes!

Nobody has mentioned that in posts 2 through 14. Why don't you google it?

I asked at Lowe's what they recommended, and they demonstrated for me how they clean their SS appliances in the store. It's a smelly, oily spray they sell there, not cheap, but effective. You use just a little on a soft dry rag; it lasts a long time, and the smell and oil disappear quickly. The clean surface lasts for weeks. Steel Meister. I use it on appliances but not on the stainless steel sink.

Twenty girls are coming to my house in an hour. I hope they like the food but not notice the streaked, but clean refrigerator and ovens. sigh

Somehow I suspect your gathering will be a smash hit.

When they delivered our SS appliances the installer cleaned them with a product called Rock it Oil, LUSTRE.....He said it is the best he has found and the only one he would use. We purchased some at Home Depot and love the ease and outcome. It is not cheap, about $10.00 a can, 9.5oz.
I hope it works as well for you if you try it.

I often wonder if the folks who design our kitchen appliances have ever used kitchen appliances. I have had stainless steel appliances in the past in two different homes and they cleaned up nicely with soap and water and CLEAN rags.
Gracie: We have been here a very short time and this is one of those pet peeves that is high on our irritation list (it is a very short list).

We had no issues with stainless in our previous house.

We also have another issue (need a separate thread) that our Whirlpool electric stove top (black) never wipes clean.

I use a product from Walmart or Lowes called Weimans stainless cleaner. Was recommended by a clerk from Best Buy. Works great.

I don't want to put oil on them. I want them to FEEL clean to the touch.

They are driving me CRAZY.
I agree, Gracie! They look nice, but never again! If I had children AND stainless steel appliances, I WOULD be crazy! Can't stand them, and the fact that they have to be cleaned daily. If I'd known before I chose...

I have nothing useful to add but am so impressed that you lovely ladies clean anything every day! What else gets a daily doing, out of curiosity?

I don't even make the bed every day, so that's my baseline.

Another vote for "Sheila Shine",
I have black appliances and a black quartz sink, a little Sheila goes a long way.
The plumber suggested the product. Home Depot sells it, and also on line at Amazon.
Spray on cloth, wipe and bluff. The shine lasts and no finger prints.

I think it depends on what "kind" of stainless steel surface you have. I used Sheila Shine right off the bat on our brand-new LG s/s fridge in 2007, and it left a horrible, streaky mess.
Some brands' s/s has a fingerprint shield coating on it. Some brands' s/s isn't even s/s.

I never found that using "oil" leaves an oily surface. It just takes the fingerprints off, and you buff the surface to a clean shine, the same way it works when you polish your wood furniture. Clean as a whistle and very little effort.

I've used Pledge. Now I use the Weiman wipes. The mineral oil idea sounds good too. And mineral oil is natural, isn't it? If so, OP's question is answered.
