Golf cart do have the right way in certain situations. Good example golf cart traveling down diamond lane and you setting at stop sign. You HAVE to yield to ALL oncoming traffic whether it be golf cart, biker or jogger/walker.

As you know, accidents, some minor, critical, & fatal, happen at all speeds, for all reasons; age, (minor or senior), distractions, health, weather, trying to avoid another driver, zoning out, just not paying attention, etc.
Unfortunate example: My mom was killed while sitting at a red light, in the passenger seat, with her seatbelt on by some female, with her 3-week-old baby in the backseat, going 43 miles per hour. The person that killed her was on her phone. When it was in the Village News / online, there were several comments made about how old people shouldn't drive, they were old, didn't know how to drive, etc. A friend of the family had to keep posting that my mom was minding her own business STOPPED at a red light.

So instead of everyone judging / assuming / guesstimating / pointing fingers, blaming the accident on this & on that, being judge & jury, let's remember a young life was lost, no matter the reason, that's irrelevant. Someone just lost a child. What if a child just lost their dad? What if he had pets at home? Wife?

Bottom line, it's sad when ANY person loses their life.
We do not know what happened, we may never know, and leave it at that.

I was taught never to assume. It makes an ass out of you & me.

This was on Buena Vista. No golf carts there. The last update I saw was 29 year old female lost control of her car left the roadway and hit a tree.

Not supposed to be, but.......Just passed one (NOT STREET LEGAL) 3 hours ago headed north on BV between Hillsborough and Evans Prairie. Also so called "street legal" carts are permitted on BV

Yep, there will always be the odd duck. We saw one going west on Warm Springs in the bike lane. My wife saw one going south on Morse crossing 44. The winner though is the drunk heading south on the Turnpike.

May throw some light on some of the speculation on what happened.
From online news that is nameless.

I witnessed the accident last night….she was in the passing line going about 40 mph I think. Her tires hit the curve and it threw her completely around facing the opposite way. A large tree was immediately in front of her. She hit it so hard her hood flew off and the battery Landed in front of our car. She died of impact…was still behind the wheel with airbag deployed. She had no pulse at all. I must say ER vehicles arrrived within 3 minutes of our call. I’m still shaking, it happened so fast.

There was no speed involved. It was not in the round about. She was going to pick up a pizza at Piesanos because Piesanos does not deliver😡. Very sad indeed. There needs to be more restaurants that provide delivery in The Villages. She leaves behind a wonderful boyfriend and a 10 year old son. Very close family to us.

The sad result of over confidence in skill set driver thought they had but obviously did not, and disregard for posted max safe legal speed limit are the cause of the fatal accident.

Thank you for your kind words. I'm extremely grateful my dad survived, I have no idea how, and neither did the police. When the police released the car, the guy that took us to it thought my mom was driving. When I told him no, my dad was, mom was the passenger, he was shocked. Looked at me like "like how?". I don't question why, but he did.

And yes, accidents happen all the time, for several different reasons. Personally, I would wreck my car to avoid hitting an animal, and I'm OK with that. People who know me wouldn't be surprised I did that either.

LisaRenee. First, I am VERY sorry for your loss. I'm not offended, and I wasn't making any judgement. I am not any expert on this, I merely thought it was odd to have an area where there is limited space/distance to reach high speeds, AND an on-the-scene fatality? I did edit my post, to reflect that I meant NOT having a seat belt on and a significant speed with little/no braking? Not sure if we'll ever know all the factors, but regardless, I definitely feel for her and family. I only have one child, and that's a girl just a few years older than her. Very sad!
