Default Best Courses in The Villages

Hi. I'm coming to TV March 22nd on a golf outing/house hunting trip. I want to play 2 or 3 championship courses while there and would appreciate input as to which courses I should choose to play. Will probably buy a home around Sumpter Landing if that helps? Thanks all !

Play Palmer and include the Riley Grove 9, Cane Garden and include the Hibiscus 9, and play either Havana or Glenview any 18.

Thanks. I love the clubhouse at Glenview and it's location near the polo ground. But I'll probably buy nearer to Havana. So I may try to play both of those. By the way, do you ride a harley ? I've got an electra-glide and plan to bring it with me when I move down !

Default Play Hacienda Oaks/Palms

Just opened after Senior Tournament and course was in better shape than Palmer which is a huge compliment!

If you want to play near Sumpter Landing, you won't be playing in The Villages. There is no "p" in Lake Sumter Landing in The Villages. Russ Boston who doesn't come around as much anymore, was always quick to correct posters who used the "p". Sorry Mr. Boston, if you are listening, for taking over your pet peeve . . .

What does this have to do with the OP questions? Get off the high horse and understand what they are asking.....

If you are going to be south near Havana try Bonifay. It's magnificent.... I agre Riley 9 at Palmer has great views of lake SUMTER, Glenview (MY course) is always good. Try the execs line Heron and Pelican for a nice test of nerves...

IF I HAVE MISPELLED ANYTHING LET IT GO......... Collie, are you here or NY?

Thanks Hedoman. You say that Glenview is your course. Do you like it so well because it's convenient, the golf course is that good, or because of the people and the atmosphere? I ask because I've been trying to get my wife to keep an open mind about buying north of 466. More than any other course, the clubhouse at Glenview gives me a real "country club" feel.

Yes, yes and yes BUT I love most of the other Championship courses too. Played Hacienda Oaks/Palms yesterday and still get a kick out of some of the vistas on Palms. For a magnificent "country club" feel eat at Palmer's Legends. Reminds me of Merion and Pine Valley back in the day. For a truly wonderfull golf experience try Bonifay. The course won't beat you up but bring a putter 'cos the greens are humoungous with many tiers......

North of 466 has returned to POA rule, we decide our destiny now (past 2 years my neighbor tells me). The folks around here LOVE it! Me ? I have to admit ignorance of all the ramifications it presents but, today being our 1 year anniversary, I see no reason NOT to be happy every day......

Congratulations on your first anniversary !! Sounds like you are comfortable with the decision you made to move to TV. I'm curious as to how you were feeling a year ago at this time? By the way, what do you mean in referring to POA ? Finally, living fairly near the Lopez course, how does it compare to Palmer ? -- Thanks and enjoy your special day.

Lopez, Palmer and Glenview seem to be the most consistent in staying in good conditions. POA, property Owners Assoc. North of 466 the developer has turned almost all of TV to landowners who elect their own representatives to the VCDD (Community Development District) board and now make all the decisions. There are 12 CDD's of which 10 of them are residential and 2 retail'industrial disrtricts. South of 466 the developer may not have turned over the development and he appoints the 5 members to the board. Eventually all CDD's will be landowner controlled...... Just got all of this from the VCDD orientation given free every Thursday at their office...very interesting stuff

BTW a year ago I was in shock and awe of being /owning in TV. Today I woke up to the exact same feelings. When I bring friends dwon who have never been here it's a hoot to see how wide their eyes get........
