These are the opinions of the pros.

Apparently Spieth does not think about his putt until it's his turn. It certainly works for him but it's not fair for the others if the round takes too long.

Like everyone else I play with a mixture of newbies and seasoned golfers. I don't think the newbies see the dance that is going on with the seasoned golfers.

Here's what happens with seasoned golfers saving time. They hit the ball and someone says got it and tells you where it is. They walk over to help if it's not found immediately and a few seconds later a lost ball is replaced. As they walk towards their ball they are thinking, wind, height, hazards and finally lie. When it's there turn, they hit. Now the dance moves to the green, everyone goes to their ball, watches, hits, sometimes pulling the pin sometimes not, sometimes playing out of turn to give a golfer a couple of extra seconds to walk.

I think you can teach the dance. But it's not taught like a football play or basketball move. Maybe it should be. The group does move as a team.

In between, especially if you walk, there is time to look at the birds and landscape. Since the golf is free, and there's always tomorrow, I pick up the ball way more that I ever did.
