Default Golf rain checks, did you know?

Did you know that if you start playing front and are rained out, you are given 9 hole credit.....Hmm!....Back in NC, you get full credit for 18 holes....Discovered this at OB today....Understandably, if you play 12 holes and are rained out, you get 9 holes credit....Is this an owner rule, or individual pro-shop rule?

I was told if you get rained out before you tee off on the 5th hole, you get an 18 hole rain check.

From Golf The Villages
RAIN CHECKS are only issued in the event of inclement weather. Players playing 18 holes will be issued an 18-hole rain check if they
have not teed off the 5th hole. After teeing off the 5th hole they will be issued a 9-hole rain check. After teeing off the 14th hole a rain
check will not be issued. Players playing 9 holes will be issued a 9-hole rain check only if they have not teed off the 5th hole.

Sounds like they have different rules here than they do in NC

Probably a course specific policy. Rarely ever played 18 back in CT so I have no idea what policies there were. I do know that TPC Tampa has a similar rain check policy as The Villages. We got caught of hole #7 there last summer in a bad t-storm and received a nine hole rain check.

Default Thanks Bogieshooter

Was surprised when I witnessed pro-shop cashier, relaying the above info to a golfer that wanted to play....Guess she must be new...

When you come to the villages ,forget about all other rules, the rules here are made by the developer, they must be followed,or do not play.

Doesn't mean they are bad rules.

If you have any concept about golf in general these rain check rules are pretty generic everywhere you go and they are pretty lenient here in TV. Certainly there are privately owned courses that have different rain check rules.
