Default Hitting from the back tees!

Is it just me or are there a lot of Villagers playing from the back tees that should move up to shorter tees?....I understand that there are courses up north that recommend that golfers should play from the tees associated with their handicap, which is a great idea!....It would help speed up play also....Just a thought!

You could start me on the greens and I still wouldn't get near par.

All of our Championship courses here have the handicap recommendations for each tee on the scorecard....for both men and women. It's just that some folks either don't know their handicap or don't follow the recommendation.

I'm not sure playing from the wrong tee is slowing play. It's that lots of folks haven't a clue of the etiquette of golf. I try to assume they are new to the game and learning, so I'm trying to have a little patience, this time of year.

An article in the WSJ last week made mention that millions of people have given up golf. To remedy this there is discussion to make the game much easi and allow less time to complete a round such as larger holes on the green shorter distances, etc.

What do you think?

If someone posts that article on the bulletin board at St Andrew's, we'll hear the laughter clear across the Atlantic.

I don't know about millions, but I've heard of more people giving up golf because they lost a job than because the hole was too small....

A whole lot more Villagers should stick to the Exec Courses. No matter what Tees they use over there.

You think you got a problem? I'd need someone to do all the swinging of the clubs for me!

Default Banished to the Exec Courses?

I may be mistaken, but it sounds like OP was talking about playing back tees on Executive courses (black tees), when they should be playing golds...anyway, are you saying less skilled golfers should only play Exec courses...you realize the exec courses are filled to capacity every day during peak season, and there are forward tee options on Championship courses specifically for less skilled players.

Making all players below a certain skill level play only Exec courses would insure we all only get to play once or twice a week on them at most! Not good.

Unrelated Sidebar: Only once have I seen a high handicapper tee off from a Championship tee (at Tierra del Sol)...after 3 mis-hits (1 into elec box, 2 into houses adjacent to tee box), the ambassador told us to jump ahead to the 3rd hole (we were 2nd group in afternoon wave)...while they sorted out how to deal with this. As we drove away, we looked back to see the Championship hitter move up to the white tees.

Actually I was suggesting moving up to shorter tees (instead of blacks, play the golds)

Default Lessons

I tried taking lessons. The guy said I should take up bowling but not on Thursday because that is when he goes, What did he mean? Is that a new kind of grip?

You were referring to the execs?

I seldom see anyone on the very back tees of the championship courses.

You might think this is funny but I have always called my golf game...ready?...golf bowling! I have had lessons twice with a pro and my hubs has worked and worked with me. My friends tell me all I need to do is get out there on the greens and give it a go. But I don't want to embarrass myself by not getting the ball off the ground. I don't want to embarrass myself by holding up other golfers.

So...I don't even try!

However, it's posts like these that really keep me off the greens...keep me from even attempting to play....keep me from trying to see if I "might" be able to be a golfer someday.

Think back to when you began...
