Tee it low when the winds in your face, and high when it’s at your back. Don’t make the critical mistake of over swinging when hitting into the wind. Around 4:00 today it was really windy, and the rain was blowing sideways. It was fun swimming laps at Lake Miona with the wind creating white cap waves in the pool, but the rain wasn’t an issue since I couldn’t possibly get any more wet while swimming.

You didn't mention any great advice for when it's gusting 30mph sideways. those were the most entertaining shots because you got a much better visual on what the wind does to a golf ball. Nice job swimming through that sideways rain. I'm betting the pool wasn't real crowded. |

I played tennis in that wind. Nearly impossible to hit a groundstroke long when playing into it.

My wife and I overwintered at Cypress Lakes, near Lakeland, before we discovered TV.
An old pro named Johnny Mitchel had a driving range nearby, so I had a few lessons with him. He taught me what he called the 'Texas Wind Shot' and I used it to advantage on several occasions for years after. Closed face driver, short backswing, and was basically a worm burner, but you could get fair distance. |

I also played Heron. Surprised you didn't mention the #3 green, which is sloped back to front. I hit a nice t-shot about 12 feet left of the hole. My first putt just slid by the high side of the hole, and then proceeded to roll 25 feet down the hill toward the front right. My putt from there came up 3 inches short, then started rolling back down the hill. I intercepted it on the way back down for a 4. One guy's ball did stop by the hole, only because a piece of Spanish Moss had blown next to the hole as his putt approached. I'd never seen an unplayable green before in the Villages.
