Default How do I find better players, <12 handicaps?

I've been here a year in Mission Hills, and have played a lot of Championship golf with my neighborhood group. Great guys, lots of fun, but most prefer playing white tees (rightly so) and recently they are playing more offsite for lower rates. Since I'm a Priority member, I'd prefer to stay onsite most of the time, and I don't like to play before 9 am, afternoon is better. I'm an 8-10 handicapper, not terribly long off the tee but like to play blue or even gold tees. Playing for money is fine, as long as I win or lose 6-8 bucks max, not interested in $50 games.

I'm not interested in tournament golf, I like to roll 'em in the fairways and gimmes are fine inside the leather. I try not to take my game too seriously, and like to have fun out there. What's the best way for me to get hooked up with some "better" players without getting involved in "tournament" golf?

I am certainly not one of them but, have you checked with the local pro shop?
Perhaps the group the runs the Villages courses.

Good luck !

Since you're a priority member play men's day - Tuesday. Not serious tournament play.
You'll be paired with similar handicaps. Up to you from there to make friends.

There is a golf Association: Lake County senior Golf Association. dues 30.00 a year and paired by handicap. However, a few rules. Roll the ball in your own fairway but no giveme's. You can find them on the web----playing Mt Dora Country Club next Thursday but never travel more than an hour from Leesburg---usually much closer. Play a different course every month---shotgun start. Fun group!

My spouse plays in some groups that are 12 handicap and less. I think they play for around $15, but they always play in the morning. I agree with the suggestion on men's day. You're generally paired up by handicap unless it is a scamble event, so its a good way to hook up with people for golf groups ( or start your own).

My Sweetie is a good golfer. He plays with a couple of groups a week who play on his level and he plays with a couple that don't. (He appears to enjoy all of them, but he enjoys playing on my level too, patient man) He LOVES golf. What a joy for me to see that he has so much time to play now.

I think sooner or later you find your comfortable group by just going out and playing.

We would love to play with you. My husband has a high handicap, poor guy. But mine is between a 6-8. I'll play from the Gold or Blues. You'll need to give me strokes for the stroke differential. I like to play all the games too, but not a heavy gambler, just enough to make it fun.

There are some great golfers here in The Villages who have low and high handicaps or I should say, there are wonderful people who are challenged by golf. I like playing with them all.
