On executive courses, they tee off from the black tee boxes, but don't make it up to the green (forward) tee box.
BTW, newbies are most welcome here and no one wants to embarrass them. This thread is all in fun.

EXACTLY. This is in the spirit of fun. Us OLD duffers still do a lot of this stuff.

You can tell a brand new golfer by either they have all NEW equipment, or not very many clubs and wear tennis shoes. And think you need a PAIR of gloves.

You can tell a new golfer as they are so excited to be playing, they wore their shorts backwards.

They walk on the invisible line between the ball and the hole on the green.

They talk during other golfer's setup.

I have a pink golf bag and I play with pink balls.
And I have a tag on my clubs from the Golf Academy that says "NEW TO GOLF".

I think some are taking this thread way too serious. It was just in fun.
I have been golfing for several years. I have many days you would think I never picked up a club in my life.
So please don't get all upset over this stuff.
Gracie just wanted to have some fun with it.
Most of us are laughing because we've been there done that and maybe still are. LOL

I enjoy playing with beginners, men or women. I just tell them to relax and enjoy the game, pick up your ball in the sand and throw it on the green if you want and just keep up the pace. No one will have any heartburn playing with or behind you as long as you keep up the pace. The best way to tell if a person is a beginner is that they really seem to enjoy playing!

And beginners are astounded they have a choice of 30 FREE golf courses.
And they never complain about the conditions.
And they've been told there may be gators in the ponds, so they stay clear!

Quite a few people wear tennis shoes. Never saw the difference the way I play. And the short spikes do not grab the turf all that well anyway.

I wore tennis shoes for a whole year while my Achilles tendon was healing. (It was an old football injury)

I am not making fun of new golfers, we all started at sometime and this is the biggest golf community in the whole country. Of course there are a lot of newbies.....and a lot of oldies too. I have played for more than forty years and I keep getting worse.

I started playing golf when I moved here. Never had the time to do it before. I enjoy being outdoors and playing golf with others for fun. I can play relaxed because my play doesn't effect me being able to pay the mortgage each month. Golf is very frustrating but makes me want to do better. It's another sport I wished I started when I was young.
