Default Men and Women Golfers

Hello,
On several occasions, when I show up to play an executive course and I'm the only woman in the foursome, I sometimes receive comments from male golfers that seem, well, sexist. A sample of comments that I've received: "Hey, do you know about the ?? course down the road. Women like it there and they feel safe" . or "Why not get your husband to play golf".

Am I just sensitive or do guys generally dislike playing golf with women?

They are just stupid jerks!
If that happens when we are short on our foursome..........we treat the lady as we would treat our wives. Yep, with respect.

I would guess that with having an 11 handicap many of the men may sing a different tune after you beat their score. Most golfers would welcome anyone, particularly if they have an understanding of the game, the basic etiquette and move along at a decent pace.

Sometimes men do feel insecure especially if you are a very good golfer. Heck WOMEN feel insecure if you are a very good golfer.

I played golf with three guys (one my husband) for many years on Saturday morning at our club back in Ohio, sort of a time most men played primarily. Mind you, I am not a great golfer but at that time I could hit it a bit ...quite a bit farther than I can now. But I knew the rules of golf and moved along and was on a level that I could keep up, and sometimes I could feel the...interest in the group behind me if I could keep up . Well I could and I hit from the ladies tees and we played ready golf and never was as good as the guys but I did o.k. and never was made to feel bad.

Now many times in the girls groups I play with here a lone fellow joins us, and we try to always make him feel comfortable. We have always had the same level of fun with three of one and one of the other gender and may kid him a bit for hitting so long.. Try just to shrug it off. Most people engage their mouths before their brains.

Wink Ladies Tee!

Gracie! Be careful with that Ladies Tee deal! Played with a group of ladies one Sunday that read me the riot act and convinced me that there was no such thing! It's either "forward tees or green tees!"

A couple of years ago, my neighbor and I joined a gentleman and his adult granddaughter at Tierra del Sol back nine for a round. She asked which tees we play and we told her "Blue" and she said she would play there as well. We looked at each other and thought OK. She proceeded to pull out a driver and hit a beautiful draw up over the trees on the right and onto the fairway about 250 yards out. We both said "Oh s**t, are we in trouble!" You can't tell a book by its cover!!!

To the OP, a wise professor once told us about people like that by saying,"Well that classifies them."

Default I end up playing with a lot of guys on execs

Only once was there a request to the starter to move me to another group because one of the players "would not play with girls"....I usually play the same tee as the guys and usually "hold my own"...My suggestion, make it a challenge..

Default Enjoy open tee times

When you are playing in an open tee time you are playing the course not the people you are playing with. As long as everyone plays from the tees for their ability level everyone can enjoy the round.
