Default Newcomers to golf at The Villages

For the first time, we are renting in the villages for Jan and Feb to 'try it out'. We are coming from the Smokey Mountains of Eastern TN. We wonder what kind of clothing to bring for the golf course. Is it warm enough to wear shorts? light weight pants and light sweater? Do we need long johns?

Any helpful comments concerning golf on the different kind of courses would be MOST APPRECIATED! We have been following TOTV and can't wait to get down there!!

Thanks for your input and have a blessed Christmas!!

Welcome to TOTV.
There is a lot of info regarding golf on this site. Courses, maps, ratings, etc.
Golf The Villages
This morning it was 42 on the golf course and it can be like that in J & F. Wed. it was 80 and that can happen in J&F. I find that it is not fun at 42!

It all depends on what time of day you play. Early mornings there are even occasional frost delays in the winter. You would need long pants and a few upper layers for that. I usually don't play before 10:00 am and almost always wear shorts, with, at most, a warm long sleeve sweater/shirt and maybe a windbreaker.

Bring layers, can be cool in morning but warms up quick. You will see folks in shorts but others in ski jackets and caps.
