Not when the 90 degree rule is strictly enforced by the ambassadors. Everyone stay off the fairway until you get to your ball. Much of the time you do not even need to be on the fairway if your ball is within 10 yards of the rough. Done right we will find we only need to be in the fairway maybe 20 percent of the time. For many of us that can't find the fairway then no problem at all.

Cart will not do more damage to fairways when the 90 degree rule is strictly enforced by the ambassadors. Everyone stay off the fairway until you get to your ball. Yeah, good course condition is worth a few more bodies in the morgue and a few more on ventilators.

I thought that is why we are required to pay a “trail fee” if we want to golf? To cover the wear and tear of the golf carts. What difference does it make if 4 singles tee off 8 minutes apart or play as a foursome each driving their own cart?

If you play in 4 carts or 2, BE READY TO PLAY and it will move just as fast. When you stop at your partners ball, get out with your range finder or GPS and WALK TO YOUR BALL! That way when your partner pulls up you can pull a club a hit. If we did this, the time we save with 4 carts becomes marginal. And having worked at a country club in NY, there is a lot of turf damage with extra carts. Plus, there are the people that abuse where they drive the carts who really make it stink.

Why doesn't the virus concern you when playing golf? Is it because you're outside?
Older people can die if they catch the virus.

Spoke to a couple of ambassadors and although they like it for speed of play, they say that so many single riders with reasonable accommodation stickers are tearing up the fair ways and around the greens.

If people stayed on cart paths instead of riding up, down and all around the fairways, greens and tee boxes, perhaps riding solo could be a tolerable option - as it is there is too much wear and tear on the course when 4 players per tee time decide to "take the short cut"

The other 10% most of the time don't need to be on the grass with their cart for EVERY shot, ether lazy or abusing.... |
