The only time this bothers me is HUGE traps with only 1 or perhaps 2 rakes in and literally slows play down since you can either rake half an acre or have to walk a good deal to get it and add minutes to the hole.

Alternatively, I suppose my answer could be not to be in the sand so darn much.

Respectfully, DB

Rakes for sand traps

For those that think a rake for sand traps should be left in bunker after raking sand , your wrong . Have you ever seen a rake in a bunker on tv during a PGA tournament?
No , because it’s not allowed
to put a rake back in trap ( hazard ) only in grass around trap . Check it out .

I haven’t landed in a trap in years…..I don’t care about rakes….

Try staying out of the bunkers

It seems that many bunkers on the championship courses have 1 or 2 rakes at most. If they want the bunkers raked, it might help if they put a few more out there and it might help speed up play around the greens.

Are you seriously saying you're too lazy to walk half way or less around a bunker to get a rake. WOW

I was thinking a site about golfing in the villages might get some attention from the people who own the courses.

I have yet to pass any sand trap on any course that doesn't have unraked foot prints all through it. Listen people, I don't care about your perceived social status, you have no excuse not to rake the trap after you have trampled through it. Do whatever you think you have to do to protect yourself, but fix your mess. That goes for fixing your ball marks and divots as well.

This isn’t the PGA. TV asks that you place the rake in the trap perpendicular to the edge of the trap. Someone needs to go to Good Golf School.

And when you do put it down be sure to put tines up for some comedic relief. 😲🤣

too many do not rake bunkers, sand divots or fix ball marks on greens......way too many.

Wrong, you leave the rake IN the trap here in TV.

Yesterday, we actually found a rake that not only wasn’t fully in the trap at 90 degrees from the edge, but about 20 feet from the bunker where it could interfere with a ball rolling to the green.

This isn’t rocket engineering, people! Learn the rules before you play.

True, much less the ones that do rake out can't seem to place them back correctly!:1rotfl:

The rakes at a PGA event are kept off to the side, out of play. The rake is given to the caddie when they approach the trap. TV golf staff ask that the rakes be placed in the trap so the staff mowing the grass don’t have to get off the mower to move rakes when mowing around the bunkers.

Employees of Villages courses are advised NOT to read anything on this forum. I speak from personal experience as a former ambassador. That being said, the complaints are used as comedy material at staff meetings.
