Default What are your least favorite holes in The Villages

I think that to start ,I would nominate Caroline at Mallory holes # 5 and #7 .#5 no good lay up point
.#7 Narrow green and no room for error. What do you think and which would you nominate?

I'd say #5 because even if you have a good drive, your never on level ground!! Not fair for hitting the right shot. But, "Oh Well"

Interesting question.... It has my brain whirling trying to remember every hole on the championship courses. The ones mentioned are good ones. My answer does not mean they are my least favorite, just tough ones that come to mind....

#7 on Caroline and #10 on TDS are tough holes, but I think fair. By fair I mean anyone can play the holes. Another hole on Caroline is #3. A simple little par 3. It is the type of hole that would worry me if I am playing in some medal play event. Of course I do not do that anymore, but it is the kind of hole that could ruin a round. Imagine #3 with a 15mph wind, pin back left and NO drop area (tin cup moment). I can just see the qualifying round summary; AJ is two over after 11 holes (I can dream) and makes a 9 on the 12th ……

#5 on Caroline is just a poor design IMO for a retirement community. The hole can be a birdie hole for folks that can still carry a ball 250+, but there is no fair way to play the hole if you are a short hitter. Maybe the designers had no choice, but I think it needs a culvert providing a fairway where the bridge is now to give shorter hitters a chance at par.

How about #8 on Glenview Stirrup with the pin back left?
Or #17 at TDS from a back tee?
Or #2 on Riley Grove at Palmer. When that pin is back right it is one heck of a par 4. I have yet to hear a reasonable explanation why that is the second easiest hole on that side?

I am sure there are more I am forgetting......

Default Least favorite is

No. 9 at the Oaks!!

on the exec. courses: par 4's second shot, always on hard pan in the middle of the fairway...Ugh!

We agree, Caroline #5 needs a decent lay up point for those who aren't long ball hitters. Its a shame to hit a good drive and face an unmakable second shot. After losing untold number of balls to the pond, I started picking up after my drive and dropping the other side to finish the hole. Then we smartened up. There are so many other fun, playable 9's, that we just dropped Caroline from our rotation. So if you're not fishing Solaires out of the pond any more, that's why!

I AGREE!!!! Hilltop is the WORST exec. course in TV! Holes are right next to each other. MUST be UPDATED!

Another vote for TDS #10. I always have to start the round on #10 and it's nearly always a double for me. Even with a good drive the hole plays tough.

My least favorite holes are loopholes, sinkholes, snakeholes, potholes, and A-holes!

If you are talking about tough how about #5 on Kilimanjaro? Over 400 yards from the blue tees with large oaks on the left landing and downslope to homes on the right also with large blocking oaks. And that's just the drive. Even with a perfect drive of 250+ yards you are faced with a well guarded green that slopes severely right if you just miss the green on the right and missing left is no bargain as the pin is almost always placed left. And if you don't drive it 250+ you are left with a completely blind second shot to those same tough areas. I can't think of a tougher hole in relation to par in TV. But let's hear some more.

I would nominate #5 Riley Grove/Palmer. Tough drive with plenty of trouble and the wet area short and right of the green has magnetic qualities for my ball.

How about the Par 3 #8 on Mallory/Caroline? A three from the drop zone would be a great score - it's a side hill, hard pan lie to an undulating green. But then again, it's my fault that I have to make that drop . . .
