Are we in a recession or an inflationary period? Can they coexist or are they mutually exclusive? Thoughts?

Right now, an inflationary (but declining) period. Not yet a recession but most likely will happen. Many people still have a lot of cash, but many are living paycheck to paycheck. Credit card balances are increasing.

Both together is stagflation.

What difference does it make what it is called? If it becomes a 'recession' do we get a discount on gasoline?
A rose by any other name.....
