I'm a liitle confused by your post since you didn't say what you invested in to only lose 1 or 2%.

Are you now getting a 1 or 2% gain going forward?

If so, that doesn' keep up with inflation.

I think "once a week" is the big clue.

I bet he got a GUMAR, but I would think that would cost more than 1-2%.
