Charter / Spectrum agrees to buy Cox Communications, based in GA (i believe)

Wouldn't bet on it. Mergers reduce competition which generally pushes prices higher, not lower.

Right and these cable companies are taking a beating because cable cutters have increased more than they expected and TV watching habits have changed leading away from traditional cable TV. This is why they are selling cell phone service, but don't be fooled, you can get the same cell phone service and maybe better an cheaper from Visible, Consumer Cellular, Mint and other discount providers without any contracts or complicated bundling. The cable companies pull you in by offering discount cell service so they can sell you their over priced services. At the end of the day if all you can get is cable, just get internet, stream and get your cell service from a "real" cell phone company. You will be better off in the long run.
