Default Quantum / Century Link

If i heard the news correctly, Lumen Technologies will be bought by AT&T

So not sure how this will change the pricing plans, but I think you might expect that the lifetime monthly service cost might be toast. .

good luck to us

Yes they did. This is going to be an interesting deal since AT&T is one of the country's largest internet providers. For sure, we will see more bundling options, that's a given. Lumen is not going away, just focusing on the enterprise business vs consumer. That's where the real money is. From what I can see, AT&Ts fiber internet pricing is close to Quantum's so existing customer's may be OK. One thing I can tell you having worked for Verizon for 30 years is any "merger" or purchase, or whatever deal made when one company buys another companies business always changes over time. Look at Verizon selling it's fiber to Frontier then years later Verizon bought the business back. What we are seeing is large telcom companies aquiring as much fiber as they can get because fiber internet and fixed wireless is the future as we see cable die over time.

Quantum has been installing new fiber in many existing Villages. I helped sign-up a Villager in Liberty Park the other day. Apparently, Quantum is expanding a lot in this area. These are generally areas where Xfinity is the only service provider option.

So, I guess we will have to wait and see what happens. I'm pretty sure we won't see any changes here for a while because the deal closes in 2026 and it takes time to make any significant changes.

Does this mean if you were thinking of switching to Quantum, now is the time before the purchase?

We are in Poinciana area directly next to Liberty Park; hoping they get to our neighborhood soon. Have had enough of Xfinity price increases.

When I talk with my neighbors her in Bradford Village almost everyone can't wait for fiber so we can get rid of Xfinity & Spectrum. Cross fingers but not holding my breath...

Switched from years with Xfinity to Quantum fiber in December. Love it.

It's interesting that Bradford, Chittychatty, all the way to SawGrass has no fiber. Fenny and most of DeSoto does have Quantum.

Makes you wonder if some sort of "deal" was made to keep fiber out. Fortunately, that strategy failed because in all the new areas south of SawGrass Centric Fiber installs the fiber service when the house is built. I can't believe many are connecting to cable in these areas.

North of 466A Quantum is expanding because the main fiber line runs there so all they need to do is tap off that existing infrastructure. South of Rt.44 I believe there is no "main fiber line" so it may be a while before they expand into that area.

But I feel your pain. Without choice you are probably paying full price after the first year for cable in those areas.

I can tell you in the new build developments right outside the Villages in Wildwood, Quantum is available and the Quantum tech's tell me they are working overtime installing new service.

With this AT&T deal, it's probable we will see even more fiber expansion in the Villages and for sure more service options. This is unfortunate for the cable companies since they will have more pressure to reduce prices and profit.
